Faculty Travel Grants
2008 -2009 FACULTY TRAVEL GRANTS
CLACS invites applications for travel grants to Latin America and the Caribbean. These grants primarily aim to support research and course development. Travel must be for a minimum of 10 days. Grants will usually not exceed $ 1,500. Since most funds for these grants come from the US Department of Education, travel must be on US carriers wherever possible, and otherwise comply with US government guidelines. Ultimate approval for most grants lies with the Division of International Educational Programs and Studies of the US Department of Education. Allowable expenditures include travel costs, food and lodging, local fees and taxes. We cannot pay for equipment necessary for research.
Eligibility: U of I Faculty, Academic Professionals, and Visiting Faculty with an appointment of more than 1 year.
Requirements: Cover sheet; Two-page statement about the purpose of the trip and details about major planned activities while abroad; Abstract of this statement, no longer than 300 words (required by US ED); List of major publications/ creative activities during the past 5 years; Itinerary, with precise dates, air carrier(s) and flight numbers (US ED requirement); Detailed budget.
Deadlines: For travel between May 1 and October 31, 2008: March 24, 2008; for travel between November 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009: September 24, 2008. We will not consider late applications.
